We're constantly searching for ways to build culture at the Bottleshop and Tasting Bar. Offering that sense of imagination for people is really the ballgame for us. Our new Treehouse patio is now open and represents the latest step in our ongoing effort to deliver just that.
As anyone who's ever visited the brewery already knows, Dominion City is in an industrial park in Ottawa's East End and, (at least four years ago when when we first opened our doors,) Canotek Road probably wasn't on the top of anyone's list as a destination for good food and drink. Having said that, we've always been keenly aware of it's potential. Every week, thousands of people flock to Shefford Park on our front step for soccer, beach volleyball and hockey tournaments at the nearby Richcraft Sensplex. Just this year, a new bike path opened which directly connects the brewery to the Ottawa River bike pathway. The decision to offer people the opportunity to enjoy a beer outside was obvious.
When we decided to start the process to plan and build an outdoor patio, we knew we wanted to incorporate that sense of imagination to create something special. We decided to take advantage of the three pines which grow in front of the brewery by building a raised deck (truly a treehouse!) around them. Now that it's open, the effect is really one of a kind. Enjoying a beer and a bite to eat under swaying tree branches with a Monet sunset over the park is pretty well beyond anything we could have imagined.
