Join us Friday March 22 from 6-10pm for the city's best falafel and Syrian-style pizza.
Damascus Delights makes fresh Syrian-style street food using a traditional oven known as a saj. Founded by Syrian refugee Ahmad Altaouil and his business partner and sponsor, Ramez Chalhoub in 2016, the pair have been serving up delicious food together at farmer's markets ever since Altaouil arrived in Wakefield, Que., with his wife and three children from Jordan.
Chalhoub, who lives on a farm in Wakefield, handles the logistics side of the business. Altaouil, who lives in Hull, prepares the Syrian pizzas with cheese and za’atar (a blend of oregano, sesame seeds, thyme and sumac) and the falafel rolls, drawing on his background as a chef who ran a restaurant called Mouajanaat Al-Moustafa in Damascus.
